ADCB wins two awards - Best Retail Bank in the UAE and Best Retail Bank in the Gulf States for the year 2009
Abu Dhabi, 24 March, 2010: Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank has been named “Best Retail Bank in UAE” for the third time in a row and “the Best Retail Bank in the Gulf States” for the second straight year in the highly prestigious Asian Banker Excellence in Retail Financial Services Awards Programme.
Best Retail Bank in the Gulf States is the highest award for retail financial services in the GCC. Banks have to outperform not only national competitors, but also their peers in all six countries.
The awards were presented to ADCB at the ninth Asian Banker Excellence in Retail Financial Services Awards 2010 ceremony held on 18 March at JW Marriott, Shanghai, China.
Arup Mukhopadhyay, Executive Vice President and Head Consumer Banking at ADCB, said that the awards demonstrate the success of a series of measures implemented to further improve the bank, from new CRM systems and credit scoring to branding and enhanced efficiency.
“The awards are testament to our strength and resilience in the wake of the financial crisis,” he said. “We have worked hard to ensure that we exit the recession with a much stronger franchise than when we entered it. The process began in 2009 with the implementation of a state of the art CRM system, strengthening of the brand equity with the launch of the Long Live Ambition campaign, implementation of a modern credit scoring system and many other initiatives, ADCB also saw a surge in its Islamic banking client base,”.
Chris Kapfer, head of Excellence in Retail Financial Services Awards Programme at The Asian Banker, said the bank won the awards due to market leading performance both financially and in new products and services. “ADCB have lead the market having introduced many new products and services in the UAE over the last few years. This, combined with a solid financial performance and excellent risk management capabilities, truly define best practices for a bank in this region," he said.
Since its launch in 2001 The Asian Banker Excellence in Retail Financial Services Awards Programme has become the undisputed benchmark for the performance of the best retail banks in an increasingly fierce marketplace. For this year’s awards, Asian Banker assessed over 120 banks and financial institutions from 23 countries across the Asia Pacific, Gulf and Central Asian regions. The awards programme, administered by The Asian Banker and refereed by prominent global bankers, consultants and academics, is the most prestigious of its kind.
