Abu Dhabi, 14 October 2009: In line with its endeavors to endorse its role as a corporate citizen, ADCB announced its sponsorship of Falcon Racing team; the only Abu Dhabi based racing team (non-profit) in the UAE GT Championship (UAEGTC), the UAE’s premier sports car championship taking place in October 2009 at Dubai Autodrome. The growing championship with over 15 nationalities and over 35 cars represents the most direct link to the international racing ladder for aspiring sports car drivers.
“ADCB’s brand is not a completely new name in the sports life fields in the UAE. As early as 2005, ADCB was the main sponsor of Al Ain Football team throughout one of the most powerful seasons. This time we are proud to support the Falcon Team; the first and only team based in Abu Dhabi partaking in the UAE Touring Car Championship taking place this month. We wish the team best of luck.” ADCB CEO, Ala’a Eraiqat said.
Falcon Racing team comprises Khaled Al Qubaisi, Saif Al Assam, and Barhoum Salloum, all born and raised in Abu Dhabi, and are among the most talented drivers from the Middle East with extensive trials and competitions in the UK, Germany and UAE.
“It is really strange how things work out in the human mind. I first thought that speed is all that matters, but by time I discovered that I don’t care about speed and that it’s the competition that I enjoy. It is about catching someone, reeling them in, passing them and keeping them behind.” said Saif Al Assam Falcon Racing team member. “We in Falcon Racing team are very proud of ADCB’s sponsorship to our participation in this championship and look forward to their continuous support in other sport events on both national and international levels.” concluded Saif.
